ESP8266 + Arduino: Connecting to networks on the go

Short update to how far I have come with the ESP8266 module and my Uno. The intention was to make it so that you could connect to new WiFi networks without having to reprogram the board. It works and it is stable, running through the connection routine around every 20 seconds. This can be sped up but for now I have left long delays in the code so I can monitor what is going on.

One limitation is that you cannot connect to networks that require login via a web page, like ‘cloud’ types found in cafes and bars.

All the code, including my PHP page delivering the time and date, can be found on github –

If you would like to help make the code better please feel free.
